Riding Through the Pandemic – Airport Growth after COVID-19

Volavion has worked with Cartagena Airport and the Colombian National Carrier, Avianca in launching San Jose, Costa Rica and the resumption of New York and Miami in the USA. These new routes show the confidence in the Cartagena market and the importance of successful engagement with home carriers. The connectivity benefits are extensive particularly from San Jose where Avianca and its partners provide further connectivity to the US and the Central America region.

“We keep moving forward with our point-to-point network strategy offering more non-stop options to our customers.  We celebrate the joint effort with Cartagena Airport and Volavion to identify and study new route opportunities.  This has helped us move from analysis to implementation very efficiently, and as such we are launching new routes from Cartagena to San Jose and New York City, and we are restarting service to Miami.  Thus we are consolidating a stronger Avianca network with 129 routes, more than 3,800 weekly flights, and more than 610.000 weekly seats” said Daniel Fajardo, Avianca´s Network Planning Vice President

Volavion will continue to work with Cartagena in monitoring the performance of these new routes and providing insights to all stakeholders regarding connectivity. We also believe that the success of these new routes will pave the way for more destinations to be added to the Cartagena route network map.
